GTA VI is getting its own controllers. At its State of Play on September 3, 2026, Sony revealed two limited-edition DualSense controllers inspired by the game, one black and one white, launching from November 19, the same day as the game.

What they look like

Both have a shimmering, color-shifting finish inspired by Vice City sunsets and neon, palm tree details molded into the shell, and the "VI" logo on the touchpad. According to Sony, the white edition is inspired by Vice City at dawn and the black one by its nightlife.

The black edition is the harder one to get: in the US and UK it's sold only through PlayStation Direct, while the white one is also available at major retailers such as Amazon. In other countries, including Canada and Brazil, both are sold through retailers.

What happened when pre-orders opened

Updated September 17, 2026. September 10 went the way you'd expect:

  • Stock sold out in the UK, and some US retailers showed "sold out" within minutes.
  • PlayStation Direct had queues of up to an hour. It now limits orders to one controller per account; early on, UK and EU buyers could order up to five.
  • Scalpers moved fast, with eBay listings from $150 or more, nearly double the retail price.

A week later, PlayStation Direct in the US still had both models in stock, and the white one was still available at several retailers, so there's no need to overpay a reseller.

Our take

It's the natural add-on to Sony's partnership with the game, marketed under the "Plays best on PS5" banner. If you want one, our advice is simple: pre-order at full price from an official store, since you won't be charged until it ships, and steer clear of resellers. If you're after the black one, keep an eye on PlayStation Direct, the only store selling it in the US and UK.
