GTA 6 mural goes up in Brooklyn, on the same corner as GTA V
Colossal Media is hand-painting a giant GTA VI mural of Jason and Lucia in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on the wall GTA V used in 2013. Where to find it and the history.
One of Rockstar's best-known traditions is back. Since October 1, 2026, a huge GTA VI mural has been going up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, showing Jason and Lucia with guns drawn, framed by palm trees around the stacked Grand Theft Auto logo. A Redditor spotted it while it was still just a pencil outline, and soon after Colossal Media, the company painting it, confirmed it's working on the game's campaign.

Where is the GTA 6 mural?

If you're in New York over the next few weeks, it's worth a detour, but don't leave it too late (more on that below).
How it's painted (and how long it will last)
Updated October 8, 2026. One of the muralists on Colossal's crew, who goes by Omfish, has explained the process on Reddit:
- Timeline: each mural takes one to two weeks of 8-10 hour days; this one was due to be finished on Friday, October 9.
- Technique: the design is split into a grid where each square stands for a 4 x 8 ft section of wall. It's transferred with perforated paper and charcoal, then painted from background to foreground, with linework, touch-ups and lettering last.
- Materials: heavy-duty outdoor enamel that stands up to rain. When it pours, the crew stops and fixes any damage afterwards.
- Crew: alongside Omfish, @birntoutstudio, @m__ortiz and @ianpotterpaints are working on it.
The key point if you want to see it: it's temporary. Omfish expects it to be painted over by the next ad about a month after it goes up, "probably before the release date." If you're in New York, don't wait until November.
A tradition that started with San Andreas
Giant hand-painted murals have been part of Rockstar's identity for two decades. Colossal Media pointed this out when it confirmed the job: its very first campaign, 22 years ago, was for Rockstar, with GTA San Andreas in 2004, and two decades later it's back for GTA 6. In between, the company painted the 2013 GTA V mural on this exact corner of Williamsburg, one of the most photographed pieces of that campaign.
Reusing the wall hardly looks like a coincidence. GTA V became the fastest-selling entertainment launch in history, and Rockstar is framing GTA VI as its direct successor: same wall, same painters, same brushwork instead of a screen or a vinyl wrap.
Part of the final push
The mural lands as marketing hits its final stretch. Around the same time, the Miami Heat announced they'll play as "Vice City" the night before launch, Rockstar opened orders for The Goodtime State collector's box, and Jason and Lucia landed the cover of LOVE magazine. The mural is different in one way: it's a street piece people share simply because they saw it in person. And it may not be the only one, since Colossal Media referred to GTA 6 murals in the plural.
