GTA VI launches on

GTA 6: a "Welcome to Vice City" sign tops the Miami Heat arena

Rockstar is paying Miami-Dade County nearly $1 million for a GTA VI sign on the Kaseya Center. The money has split local politicians, and the sign is now up.

GTA VI marketing has reached the roof of one of Miami's best-known buildings. Since September 22, 2026, the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat, has carried a pink-and-white "Welcome to Vice City" sign with the GTA VI logo. A few days earlier, on September 18, the Miami Herald revealed the price: Rockstar is paying Miami-Dade County, which owns the building, close to $1 million, and that money is already dividing local politicians.

What it costs and where the money goes

According to documents published by the Miami Herald's Doug Hanks, Rockstar is paying the county $975,000 for the sign. The fee covers the staff needed to install it, including the emergency services on the ground during the operation. Where the money ends up is the sticking point:

Who

What they want

Daniella Levine Cava, county mayor

Put it toward the planned Parcel B park behind the arena

Juan Carlos Bermudez, commissioner

Give it to the Sheriff's Office, arguing the game promotes violence against police

Bermudez went as far as telling a meeting that GTA VI players "may choose to commit crimes" and that the deal could hurt the county's reputation. It's an argument GTA has faced for two decades, and Miami has a direct precedent: the protests GTA Vice City sparked in 2003.

A sign you can see from the air

On September 22, a helicopter lifted the sign's sections onto the Kaseya Center roof, where workers finished assembling it, according to aerial footage from local station WPLG. Anyone landing at Miami International from over the ocean will see it, and it's expected to stay up until at least the end of December, covering the launch window and a good part of the NBA season.

That said, the result is more modest than you'd expect from Rockstar: the sign spans roughly a third of the building's width, with fairly small lettering and the metal support frame on show.

Vice City's Sahara Arena

There's a double meaning here, because the Kaseya Center is already in the game. In GTA VI it's the Sahara Arena, home of the Vice City Narcos basketball team, named after Sahara, the GTA universe's take on Amazon. It's the neon-lined building in the cover image.

What's next

Rockstar and the county are already discussing more signs around the city, and the documents suggest the game's presence in Miami will ramp up in mid-to-late October, a month before the November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the deal already pitting the mayor's office against part of the commission, the next negotiations don't look like they'll be easy.
