GTA Vice City: New Legacy adds 25 new missions to the original game

Twenty-four years on, GTA Vice City is still getting new content. In mid-July 2026, modder Rohansrinivasan123 released New Legacy, a mission pack that adds 25 story missions to the original game, complete with their own cutscenes and briefings.

What's in it

New Legacy doesn't replace Tommy Vercetti's story: it leaves it intact and adds a parallel campaign alongside it. The missions mix what Vice City does best: shootouts and raids on gang hideouts, heists and high-speed chases, and jobs protecting allies.

Each mission has its own objectives, characters and locations, plus cutscenes and briefings made specifically for the mod. It's built with Sanny Builder and CLEO, the community's go-to tools for adding scripts to the 3D-era GTAs without touching the original game code.

It's free and runs on the original PC version of Vice City. There's no trailer or official footage yet, so you'll have to discover it by playing. GTA House doesn't link to downloads.

A good year for Vice City

New Legacy joins a run of story mods for Vice City. In February, The Backstabber's Blues told what Lance Vance was up to while Tommy took over the city. They take different approaches: that one reinterprets the plot through another character, while New Legacy builds new missions around it.

Both, however, run up against one of Rockstar's mod guidelines, published later, in September, which bans expanding or altering the official stories and missions of its games.

Our take

Twenty-five missions is a lot of content for a free mod, and leaving the original story alone is a smart call for anyone who wants to revisit Vice City without changing what they already know. Without any footage it's hard to judge the quality, but it confirms the obvious: months away from returning to Vice City in GTA 6, the community still isn't ready to leave the 1986 version behind.
