Bad news for fans hoping to snap a photo in New York. The huge GTA VI mural Rockstar Games commissioned in Williamsburg, Brooklyn has been hit with a giant tag: the name "JELOUS", in white and black letters across the bottom of the piece, right over Jason and Lucia's car in GTA VI.

The writer shared the result on Instagram from the jelous.ktd account, with several photos of the tagged mural.

A mural with history

Painting started in early October at the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street, and it's no random spot. Rockstar put its GTA V mural featuring Trevor on that same wall back in 2013, so for many fans it was a direct nod to the series' tradition.

The mural was also painted entirely by hand by Colossal Media, the same company behind Rockstar's first outdoor ad more than two decades ago, back in the GTA San Andreas era. Weeks of work that are now partly covered by the tag.

How the community reacted

Unsurprisingly, fans aren't happy. Replies on social media range from anger to resignation, and some have gone for humor, pointing out that this is, after all, very GTA.

So far neither Rockstar nor Colossal Media has said whether the mural will be restored before launch. It would make sense to fix it soon, since it's part of the final marketing push for GTA VI, which arrives on November 19.

What do you think? Will Rockstar repaint it in time?
