GTA 6 delayed again: the new release date is November 19, 2026
Rockstar has delayed GTA VI to Thursday, November 19, 2026, to polish the game. We break down the statement and every release date the game has had.
The wait just got longer. On November 6, 2025, Rockstar Games announced that GTA VI is delayed to Thursday, November 19, 2026. Until then, the planned date had been May 26, 2026, so the delay adds six months.
What Rockstar said
The statement is short and to the point. The studio apologises for stretching out a wait it admits has already been long, and explains why: the extra months will let it finish the game with the level of polish players expect from Rockstar. It closes by thanking fans for their patience and teasing what’s coming — the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to present-day Vice City.
There’s nothing else in it: no platform changes and no new details about the game itself.
Every GTA VI date so far
Announced | What happened |
|---|---|
December 5, 2023 | Trailer 1, with release planned for 2025 |
May 2, 2025 | First delay: launch moves to May 26, 2026 |
May 6, 2025 | Trailer 2 arrives |
November 6, 2025 | Second delay: launch moves to November 19, 2026 |
It’s the game’s second delay, which won’t surprise long-time Rockstar watchers: Red Dead Redemption 2 was also pushed back twice before launching in 2018, and it paid off. The same happened with GTA V, originally due in spring 2013 before finally arriving on September 17 that year. At Rockstar, a delay usually means more polishing time rather than a crisis, and the studio has shown more than once that it would rather wait than ship something unfinished.
