It’s official: GTA VI can be pre-ordered from June 25, 2026. On June 24 Rockstar finally detailed the editions and pre-order perks, and pre-orders went live at midnight local time on digital storefronts and at select retailers. The date itself had been announced a week earlier alongside the official cover art.

Where and how to pre-order

Digital pre-orders go through the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store; anyone who had wishlisted the game got a heads-up as soon as they opened. All the details and editions are on the official GTA VI site.

Ultimate Edition and pre-order bonus

Alongside the standard edition, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, which adds an exclusive set of premium vehicles, weapons and clothing, plus extra action woven through every part of Jason and Lucia’s story.

Anyone who pre-orders or buys the game by the end of November 19 (11:59:59 p.m. on launch day, as the PlayStation and Xbox stores clarified in September), in any edition, gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, a bundle of items that harks back to Vice City’s neon heyday. Digital pre-orders also include a free month of GTA+.

Pre-loading and the physical version

  • Pre-load: digital pre-order customers can download the game from November 12, a week before launch, so they can play from minute one.
  • Physical version: it also goes on sale on November 12, but the box contains a download code, not a disc with the game on it — the idea being that boxed buyers can pre-load in time too.

Worth noting: GTA VI is single player

In the announcement, Rockstar describes GTA VI as a single player experience. In other words, the November 19 launch is Jason and Lucia’s campaign; nothing has been said yet about any online mode.

Should you pre-order now?

Our take: if you plan to play digitally on day one, yes. Pre-ordering is what unlocks the November 12 pre-load and the free GTA+ month, and you’ll get the Vintage Vice City Pack anyway if you buy before the 20th. If you’d rather have a box, bear in mind there’s only a code inside, so the appeal over digital is mostly collecting or a better retail price.

Release date and platforms
