The GTA+ Games Library added a Rockstar classic on May 2, 2024: L.A. Noire, the 2011 detective adventure, became part of the GTA Online membership at no extra cost.

What is L.A. Noire?

You play Cole Phelps, an LAPD detective in 1947 Los Angeles, one of the most corrupt and violent periods in the city's history. Cases inspired by real crimes from that year range from arson and racketeering to brutal murders, pitting Phelps against the underworld and his own department.

Its signature is its facial animation technology, which captured every nuance of the actors' performances: interrogations are about reading faces to work out who's lying. It's a blend of action and detective work that still has few equivalents in Rockstar's catalogue.

A GTA Online bonus

As a tribute, GTA+ Members could claim two vintage cars for free in GTA Online from Legendary Motorsport:

The GTA+ Games Library

L.A. Noire joined the Library's other Rockstar classics, which a few months later also added Bully and, in 2026, GTA V's Story Mode. The Library has become one of the membership's selling points for players who don't only play GTA Online.

Worth playing?

If you never have, yes: it's very different from GTA — slower and built around investigation — and its setting still makes it one of the company's most distinctive games. For GTA+ Members, it's an easy way to try it without buying it separately.
