GTA 6: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27
Rockstar announces GTA VI: An Extended Look, premiering on Netflix on August 27 and on YouTube hours later. Showtimes and what we know about the game.
Rockstar Games has something new lined up for anyone waiting on GTA VI. On August 6, 2026, it announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a video longer than any of the trailers so far — with a twist: its world premiere will be on Netflix.
When and where to watch
It premieres on Thursday, August 27, first on Netflix and then, a few hours later, free for everyone:
Platform | US Eastern time | UK time |
|---|---|---|
Thursday 27, 3 p.m. | Thursday 27, 8 p.m. | |
Rockstar’s YouTube and the GTA VI site | Thursday 27, 9 p.m. | Friday 28, 2 a.m. |
So if you don’t have Netflix, you won’t miss out — you’ll just have to wait a few hours, or stay up late if you’re in Europe and want to catch it the moment it lands on YouTube.
An unusual premiere
A video game debuting footage on a streaming service as if it were a film isn’t the norm, and it says a lot about the scale of this launch. Rockstar hasn’t detailed what the video will show beyond it being a broader look at the game than the usual trailers.
What we already know about GTA VI
While you wait for August 27, here’s where things stand:
- Protagonists: Jason and Lucia, a couple caught up in a criminal conspiracy that spans the whole state of Leonida. More in our Trailer 2 article.
- Map: Vice City and the rest of Leonida, including regions like the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers and Port Gellhorn.
- Release: November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, following the delay announced in 2025.
- Pre-orders: open since June 25, with pre-loading from November 12. Full details in our pre-order article.
We’ll cover what the video shows here on GTA House as soon as it premieres.
