It’s here. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the video Rockstar announced on August 6, premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, and landed on YouTube and the official site that same night. It is by far the longest look at GTA VI we’ve had so far.

Captured entirely on PS5

Rockstar stresses one key detail: everything in it was captured in-game on PlayStation 5. These aren’t pre-rendered scenes or trailer-only edits but footage of the game as it will look on console. According to the studio, it shows the biggest and most immersive leap the series has ever made.

Where to watch it for free

The premiere was exclusive to Netflix subscribers, but you no longer need to pay anything:

What it adds over the trailers

GTA VI’s two trailers were short, heavily edited pieces built to introduce Jason and Lucia’s story. A long video pulled straight from the console gives a far more faithful sense of how the game will look and play at home. If you’re catching up, watch it after Trailer 2: together they’re the most complete picture yet of Vice City and the rest of Leonida.

A tutorial in disguise, says Take-Two

A few weeks later, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained the thinking behind it in an interview with GamesBeat. With interactive entertainment, he said, you have to show people how to play before they'll spend money, and GTA marketing has always carried an element of tutorial. An Extended Look did the same job in a different way: 27 minutes that entertain while explaining how the game plays. Zelnick believes the premiere was good "for everyone involved," since it worked on Netflix and Twitch streamers rebroadcast it to an even bigger audience.

Next stop: November 19

GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are open, and digital buyers can pre-load from November 12 — everything is in our pre-order article. And the countdown is in the bar at the top of GTA House.
