GTA 6 on PC could arrive by March 2027, GamesBeat reports
Four industry sources put GTA VI on PC in the first quarter of 2027, just months after consoles. What we know, what we don’t, and how it compares with GTA V and Red Dead 2.
PC players may not have to wait as long as they feared. According to a GamesBeat report published on October 13, 2026, Rockstar is aiming to release GTA VI on PC in the first quarter of 2027, meaning January to March. The outlet cites four industry sources who do business with Rockstar and are familiar with its schedule. Rockstar hasn't confirmed it: officially, GTA VI is only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.
What the report says
- The PC version is reportedly targeting January, February or March 2027.
- The information comes from four separate sources who work with Rockstar.
- It lines up with what VGC's Andy Robinson said weeks earlier: that there was "noise" in the industry about Rockstar pulling the PC date forward.
How it would break Rockstar's PC pattern
If it happens, it'd be the shortest wait of the modern era:
Game | Consoles | PC | Wait |
|---|---|---|---|
GTA IV | April 2008 | December 2008 | About 7 months |
September 2013 | April 2015 | About 19 months | |
October 2018 | November 2019 | About 12 months | |
GTA VI (per GamesBeat) | November 2026 | Q1 2027 | 2 to 4 months |
There are reasons to think it could be different this time. Take-Two has repeatedly said PC is an increasingly important market, and current consoles have become much more expensive since 2020, pricing out part of an audience that does own a PC.
The caveats
This is a report, not an announcement, and internal dates move, as GTA VI's two delays prove. Microsoft has also ruled out streaming the game to PC at launch, as we covered in the Xbox Cloud Gaming denial.
Our take: wait or buy on console?
If you already own a PS5 or Xbox Series, there's no reason to wait: the game is out in November and console will be the reference experience at launch. If you're PC-only, this report is good news, but it's not worth buying a console just to gain two or three months, nor treating the date as fact until Rockstar confirms it. The sensible move is to wait for the official announcement, which on this timeline shouldn't come long after launch.
