Since March 4, 2025, PC players have been able to play GTA V Enhanced, the free upgrade announced on February 20. It brings everything GTA V and GTA Online had exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S to computers, optimised for modern PCs. On April 15 it also arrived on the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass.

First steps: migrate your progress

  1. Story Mode: if you uploaded your save from Legacy during pre-load, you can now download it in Enhanced. If not, upload it from Legacy’s pause menu. It migrates only once.
  2. GTA Online: when you launch Enhanced you’ll be offered a character migration. It’s one-time and can’t be undone, but your Legacy progress isn’t deleted.
  3. Play with friends on the same version: Legacy and Enhanced don’t share sessions.

What’s waiting on day one

  • Hao’s Special Works with five PC-new cars (Coil Cyclone II, Pegassi Weaponized Ignus, Karin S95, Imponte Arbiter GT and Pfister Astron Custom) and 20 more to tune.
  • Animals across the map and the daily Wildlife Photography Challenge, started at the tourist board in Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness.
  • The Career Builder with GTA$4,000,000 for newcomers, a new landing page and Career Progress.
  • Kernel-level anti-cheat and voice chat moderation.
  • And that same day, on both versions, the Oscar Guzman Flies Again update.

Graphics and performance

On recommended hardware: ray tracing (PC-exclusive ambient occlusion and global illumination, plus shadows and reflections), AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS (Rockstar said Frame Generation would follow later), fast loading with SSD and DirectStorage, better high-resolution and high-frame-rate support, DualSense adaptive triggers and Dolby Atmos. Anyone below minimum specs can stay on GTAV Legacy, which remains supported.

GTA+ arrives on PC

GTA+ debuted on PC that same March 4. On top of its standing perks (GTA$500,000 a month, Shark Cards with 15% extra, The Vinewood Club’s 100-car garage and workshop, and the club app), new members got a Classics Collection of past perks until May 28 — including the Principe Deveste Eight with an HSW upgrade — and the Invetero Coquette D5 as that month’s car. GTA+ availability may vary by country.

Our take

If your PC meets the requirements, there’s no reason to stay on Legacy: it’s free and by far the best version of the game on computer. Just think carefully about when to migrate your GTA Online character, because there’s no going back.
