GTA VI map

Vice City and the state of Leonida

GTA VI is set in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida: one big city, Vice City, surrounded by keys, swamps, run-down towns, industrial farmland and a national park. Rockstar calls it the biggest map it has ever made, roughly twice the size of GTA V’s.

Rockstar hasn’t released the map ahead of November 19, 2026, so here’s every region with what’s actually known, its named neighborhoods and landmarks and the official screenshots. Plus, kept separate and clearly labeled, the map the community has pieced together.

The big city

Vice City

The ’80s are long gone, but it’s still America’s capital of sun and fun: art deco hotels, white sand, glass towers, Cuban bakeries and the busiest cruise port in the world.

Aerial view of Vice City: white hotels along a canal, a crowded basketball court, palm trees and the skyline in the distance.

Vice City is back more than twenty years after GTA Vice City, now in the present day and part of the GTA V-era universe. It sits at the center of Leonida and, according to the press previews, it covers roughly twice the area of Los Santos, with streets 15% narrower and far more traffic.

The official website pitches it as America’s glamour, hustle and greed packed into one city, and every neighborhood has its own personality. These are the ones Rockstar has named so far.

Several women pose by a police sports car in front of the neon of an Ocean Beach art deco hotel at night, while two officers look on.

Neighborhood

Ocean Beach

Pastel art deco hotels and bright white sand: the same neighborhood that headlined GTA Vice City back in 1986. By day the beach is packed; by night it’s neon, expensive cars and cops. The Vintage Vice City Pack adds a garage at Shore Court, steps from the sand.

A Vice City street under a highway whose pillars are covered in colorful murals, with a classic blue car and bikers pulling wheelies.

Neighborhoods

Little Cuba, Stockyard and the Southside

Little Cuba is all about its panaderías; the Tisha-Wocka flea market, about knockoff brands. Stockyard is Vice City’s Wynwood (opens in a new tab), with murals by real street artists. And the Southside is home to the PTT Youngin$ compound you can raid in an Ultimate Edition activity.

Two curved skyscrapers by a turquoise bay crossed by speedboats, with the rest of the Vice City skyline behind.

Downtown

Towers, the bay and VC Port

Glass towers over a bay full of speedboats, a Ferris wheel and VC Port, billed by the official site as the cruise ship capital of the world, just like the real Port of Miami. This is the postcard Vice City, where the money is.

A Vice City street in the early hours, the wet asphalt reflecting the pink and blue neon of art deco hotels, with an orange sports car up front.

After dark

Neon, clubs and puddles

Once the sun goes down, Vice City changes: pink and blue neon on wet asphalt, strip clubs and nightclubs. Weather is local and persistent, and rain leaves puddles long after the storm has passed, according to Game Informer (opens in a new tab).

Where the story starts

Leonida Keys

A laid-back tropical island chain of cold beers and deck chairs, right on the edge of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in America. This is where Jason lives.

A street in a Keys town: a green iguana on the asphalt, a woman on a mobility scooter, a cyclist and tourists by a shuttle bus.

The Leonida Keys are Rockstar’s Florida Keys: islands strung together by bridges, coastal towns and constant boat traffic. Jason lives here, doing jobs for local drug runners, and it’s where Brian Heder, the smuggler he works for, runs his boat yard.

According to the press previews, the story opens here, near Jason’s place, and the rest of the map opens up later. Meet the locals in our GTA 6 characters guide.

The Rusty Anchor’s patio, packed with people drinking under palm trees by a crab festival banner, with a man asleep on a table in the foreground.

Keys life

Beach bars and iguanas

Nothing fancy here: bars like The Rusty Anchor, crab festivals and people passing out at the table. Iguanas roam the streets, and that’s no throwaway detail: Game Informer confirmed Florida’s invasive species, the green iguana among them, are in the game.

Dozens of partying speedboats and jet skis in a Keys bay, with people in swimwear on deck and an inflatable flamingo in the water.

The water

Boats, diving and storms

In the Keys, the water is the highway: speedboats, jet skis, boat parties and, below the surface, reefs to dive among sea turtles. It’s also the smuggling route. And keep an eye on the sky: Leonida gets tropical storms and hurricanes.

Swamps and mangroves

Grassrivers

A wild, primordial stretch of wetlands and mangroves. The gators get top billing, but they aren’t the deadliest thing out here, or the strangest.

A dock with a seaplane in the middle of a swampy forest, birds in the sky and the Vice City skyline on the horizon.

Grassrivers is Leonida’s Everglades: miles of tall grass, water and mangroves where, per the official site, there are worse predators than alligators and some very weird discoveries. The screenshots put it within sight of the Vice City skyline.

It sums up what Rockstar is going for with this map: wilderness that matters as much as the city, and corners you’ll only find by straying off the path.

A Leonida swamp at dawn, with a deer in the tall grass, a white heron in the water and flocks of birds overhead.

Wildlife

Gators, herons and deer

Leonida has over 170 species, including more than 60 kinds of birds and over 30 land mammals, and some of them can be tracked: there are rare, discoverable and legendary animals. The swamp is where it shows most, with gators, herons, deer and flocks everywhere.

Three people lounging on a porch by an airboat, a dead alligator at their feet and a man in a hat standing with a shotgun.

The locals

Swamp folk

Gator hunters with rifles over their shoulders, wooden porches and sheds with the day’s catch hanging up. The people out here have nothing in common with the Ocean Beach crowd, and the screenshots make it clear you shouldn’t bother them.

A pickup plows through a wetland chased by a police car, an airboat and a helicopter, with alligators in the water.

Getting around

Airboats and chases

Cars won’t get you far here: you cross the swamp by airboat, one of the confirmed activities. The cops follow you in, too, with boats, trucks and a helicopter, as Trailer 2 (opens in a new tab) and the screenshots show.

Official postcard with the Port Gellhorn lettering over the town at night, with a water tower and rail tracks under storm clouds.

A vacation town gone to seed

Port Gellhorn

Cheap motels, closed-down attractions and empty strip malls. The tourists aren’t coming back, but a different kind of economy has moved in.

Port Gellhorn at sunset: low houses, an abandoned gas station, power lines and a water tower under an orange sky.

Port Gellhorn used to be a popular vacation spot. Now, per the official site, it’s cheap motels, shuttered attractions and strip malls with no stores, running on a new economy of malt liquor, painkillers and truck stop energy drinks.

Rockstar’s advice: jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet. It’s Leonida’s least welcoming face, and it hints at plenty of small-time dealing.

The Starlet Motel at night, its neon sign among palm trees and a pickup parked outside.

Landmarks

Starlet Motel and Delights Cabaret

The official screenshots show off two local businesses: the Starlet Motel, neon sign and vacancies and all, and the Delights Cabaret, which promises new food, stays open all night and is hiring dancers. Port Gellhorn in a nutshell.

A woman hands a bag of blue pills to a tattooed man in glasses sitting in his car.

The locals

The new economy

Deals through a car window, homegrown plants and bonfires in the parking lot. According to Rockstar, Port Gellhorn runs on cheap drugs and booze.

The industrial heartland

Ambrosia

In the heart of Leonida, industry and old-school values still rule. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs; the local biker gang provides almost everything else.

Ambrosia at night: the lights of an industrial town by a river, with smoking stacks under heavy clouds.

Ambrosia sits in the heart of Leonida and revolves around the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, which employs half the town. Whatever the refinery doesn’t run, per the official site, the local biker gang does.

Around it is farm country: crop dusters, ranches and mud parks. That fits what Game Informer described of inland Leonida, with motocross and demolition derbies.

Power pylons and factory chimneys at sunset, with a field on fire in the foreground.

The refinery

Allied Crystal

Pylons, smokestacks and burning fields at sunset. The refinery is Ambrosia’s reason for being, and you can tell from miles away.

A pack of bikers in leather vests rides down Ambrosia’s main street past a gas station.

The locals

The bikers

Ambrosia’s biker gang shows up in more screenshots than any other inland crew: riding down Main Street, in neon-lit roadside bars and at gunpoint. What part they play in the story, Rockstar hasn’t said.

A mud-covered man in a cowboy hat sticks out his tongue and throws the horns at a party full of muddy off-roaders.

Downtime

Mud and small-town fun

Mud parks full of off-roaders, car washes and beer cans: inland Leonida has its own idea of a good time, and Rockstar gives it as many screenshots as the beach.

Official postcard with the Mount Kalaga National Park lettering over a river running through rocks and forest, with a deer drinking.

National park

Mount Kalaga National Park

A national landmark on the state’s northern border, with hunting, fishing and off-road trails. In the backwoods around it live people who’d rather the government never found them.

A busy road runs through a canyon of reddish, overgrown walls, with a bridge in the distance.

Mount Kalaga National Park sits in the north of Leonida, right up against the state line, and it’s the closest GTA VI gets to Red Dead Redemption 2: forests, rivers and hills for hunting, fishing and off-roading.

The official site adds a very Rockstar touch: the surrounding backwoods are home to hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals living off the government’s radar. That smells like strange side jobs.

A cougar stalks along a forest creek while several deer drink and rest on the bank.

Hunting and fishing

Deer, cougars and rivers

The screenshots show hunters in orange vests, deer drinking at a creek and a predator lying in wait. Game Informer confirms trackable animals, including legendary ones in the style of Red Dead 2, and catch-and-release fishing.

Dirt bikes and an ATV jumping across muddy ground next to some silos.

Off-road

Dirt bikes, ATVs and choppers

Dirt bike and ATV trails through mud and abandoned silos. The Ultimate Edition adds a Mud Club off-roader built for these backroads and opens a custom off-road shop in Lake Leonida.

Someone paddles an orange kayak down a river, past a water-level gauge and under an iron railroad bridge.

Rivers and trails

Kayaking and hiking

Kayaking and hiking are both confirmed, and hiking doubles as a date for Jason and Lucia. Iron bridges, waterfalls and clear water: Leonida at its most peaceful.

State of Leonida

The fan-made GTA 6 map

While Rockstar keeps its map under wraps, the community has spent years drawing its own. State of Leonida is a fan-made interactive map that rebuilds the state from the trailers, the official screenshots, the 2022 leaks and Florida’s real geography, complete with roads, coastline and the name of every region.

In their version, Vice City sits on the east coast, with Vice Beach across the bay; Mount Kalaga National Park takes up the north; Port Gellhorn lies to the west; the Grassrivers wetlands stretch across the south, and the Leonida Keys trail off at the bottom. Flip the switch to go from the road view to the terrain view.

Treat it for what it is: an educated guess, not the official map. Some coastlines and roads are estimates, and the game may have changed a lot since the leaks. Still, it’s the best way to picture the whole thing until November 19.

GTA 6 map FAQs

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar hasn’t given an exact figure. According to Rockstar North’s Aaron Garbut, it’s roughly twice the size of GTA V’s and the biggest map the studio has made. The New York Times puts it at around three times Red Dead Redemption 2’s playable area.

Where is GTA 6 set?

In Leonida, a fictional state based on Florida, with Vice City (Rockstar’s Miami) as its big city.

How many regions does the map have?

Rockstar has revealed six: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. There may be more.

Is there an official GTA 6 map?

Not yet. The maps going around online are fan reconstructions built from trailers and leaks (the most complete is State of Leonida), and Take-Two has even had a mod taken down (opens in a new tab) that recreated one.

Is the whole map open from the start?

Not entirely. The story begins in the Leonida Keys and the rest of the world opens up from there; the map starts covered in fog and fills in as you explore. The story won’t drag you everywhere either: some areas you’ll only find on your own.

Is Ocean Beach back?

Yes. Ocean Beach, GTA Vice City’s art deco hotel district, is one of the confirmed neighborhoods of the new Vice City.

Can you go to Liberty City?

It hasn’t been announced. Lucia is from Liberty City, but everything Rockstar has shown takes place in Leonida.
