GTA VI characters
For the first time, GTA VI puts a couple in the lead: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Around them, Rockstar has profiled six supporting characters split between the smuggling scene in the Leonida Keys and the nightlife of Vice City, and a few more have surfaced in the run-up to November 19, 2026.
Here is everyone, with only what is actually known: their official backstory, what the trailers and previews have shown and who voices them when that is confirmed.

Protagonist
Raised around grifters, he tried the Army and ended up in the Keys working for drug runners. All he wants is an easy life, and it keeps slipping away.
Jason Duval is one of GTA VI's two playable leads. His official profile says he grew up surrounded by grifters and crooks, joined the Army to shake off a rough adolescence and landed in the Leonida Keys doing what he knows best: work for the local drug runners.
What he wants is an easy life, and it keeps getting further away. Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing that ever happened to him; Rockstar leaves that question open, and all three trailers pull on that thread.
Backstory
The Army was his shot at straightening out, but for someone raised among hustlers the old path won. In the Keys he is not sitting on some big score: he runs errands for the local dealers, and the official screenshots show a man far more comfortable with a gun than with a long-term plan.
The Keys
Jason lives rent-free in a property owned by Brian Heder, the veteran Keys smuggler, in exchange for helping out with his shakedowns. That is how he makes a living as the story opens, and it is what ties him to Cal Hampton, another of Brian's regulars.
Daily life
The August 2026 press previews confirmed that Jason and Lucia have a life beyond the heists (opens in a new tab): a gym that reshapes your body, food, sleep and pastimes like catch-and-release fishing. When you are not playing as him, Jason goes about his own routine.
Comparisons
Ever since the first trailer, plenty of players have seen a bit of Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2 in him. Roger Clark (opens in a new tab), who played Arthur, thinks the comparisons are only natural but too early to judge beyond looks. Rockstar has not said who plays Jason.
Protagonist
Her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk, and standing up for her family put her behind bars. Luck got her out, and from here on it is smart moves only.
Lucia Caminos is the other playable lead and the series' first female protagonist since the 2D era. Her official profile frames her as a fighter: her father taught her to throw punches as soon as she could walk, and life has been swinging at her ever since.
Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary, and sheer luck got her out. She wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City, and she is done settling for scraps.
Prison
Trailer 1 (opens in a new tab) opens with Lucia in prison. By Trailer 2 (opens in a new tab) she is out and riding with Jason. What put her inside, according to Rockstar, was protecting her own.
The writing
In LOVE magazine (opens in a new tab), Rockstar writer Alexa D’Agostino said she drew on her own mother, an immigrant raised in Newark, near where Liberty City sits. The aim was someone “perfectly imperfect” who could stand next to Arthur Morgan or Niko Bellic. Rockstar has not confirmed who plays Lucia.
In action
The official screenshots put her right where Jason is: chases, guns and robberies. In the previews, the two split the work on a stickup, one keeping the hostages in line while the other grabs the loot, as we cover in our piece on how robberies work (opens in a new tab).
The couple
Their relationship is a gameplay system too: they text each other, and ignoring messages hurts it, while working out, shopping or robbing places together builds it up. A strong bond unlocks holding hands and kissing. The romance is optional, but IGN reports it can affect the story.
Jason's buddy
A few beers, the Coast Guard on the scanner and a browser full of conspiracy theories: that is Cal's idea of a good day. He is Jason's friend and another of Brian's guys.
Cal Hampton is Jason's friend and, like him, a fellow associate of Brian Heder. According to his official profile, he is happiest at home with a few beers, listening in on Coast Guard radio and going down conspiracy-theory rabbit holes online.
He is the comic relief of the Keys crew, in the tradition of the series' lovable, slightly hopeless sidekicks.
His life
His official screenshots catch him in his element: floating on an inflatable flamingo surrounded by cans, at a mini-golf course full of fake gators or shooting pool with Jason. Ambition is not his thing; Cal is fine right where he is.
Keys smuggler
A drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys who still moves product out of his boatyard. He gives Jason work and a roof over his head.
Brian Heder is an old-school drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Leonida Keys. He still moves product out of his boatyard with Lori, his third wife, and he has been around long enough to let other people do the dirty work.
One of those people is Jason, who lives rent-free in one of Brian's properties in exchange for help with the shakedowns. That makes Brian, in all likelihood, the first boss you will work for.
The business
His screenshots place him among pickups, docks and Keys dive bars, always with Jason nearby. The wrapped brick he is holding in one of them leaves little doubt about what passes through that boatyard.
Cast
He is the one cast member confirmed so far: Stephen Root (opens in a new tab), Milton in Office Space and the voice of Bill on King of the Hill, said so himself in September 2026. He did not name his character, but he did say his voice had already been in the marketing and that plenty of people recognized it, which fits what fans had suspected since Trailer 2: he is Brian.
Vice City legend
Few people pull it off, and he did: he went from the streets to business. Real estate, a strip club, a recording studio and a record label.
Boobie Ike is a Vice City legend: one of the few to turn a criminal empire into a legitimate one. He owns real estate, the Jack of Hearts strip club and a recording studio, all cash-heavy businesses.
With Dre'Quan Priest he runs the Only Raw Records label, which has just signed Real Dimez.
Business
The club is Boobie's showcase and turns up in several official screenshots, its red neon over the door. Running only cash businesses is no accident: it is the classic way to launder money, and it fits a man with his background.
Music manager
Always more hustler than gangster: even while dealing on the street, music was the goal. Now he has his own label and a duo to break.
Dre'Quan Priest was always more hustler than gangster. Even back when he was selling on the street, what he really wanted was to make it in music, and now it is within reach: he runs Only Raw Records with Boobie Ike and has signed Real Dimez.
Only Raw Records
Real Dimez are his chance to take the label to the next level. His screenshots show him in the studio, at poolside parties and in the club: the manager who never leaves his talent's side.
Rap duo
Bae-Luxe and Roxy have been friends since high school, went viral with a song and now want to break out for real with Only Raw Records.
Real Dimez are Bae-Luxe and Roxy, friends since high school who have been through it all together. One of their early tracks, with rapper DWNPLY, went viral, and now, with Boobie and Dre'Quan's Only Raw Records behind them, they are chasing the real thing.
Social media fame
They are the most direct expression of the social media satire that has run through GTA VI since the first trailer: instant fame, phones filming everything and the pressure to turn a viral moment into a career.
Bank robber
Confident, charming and cunning: a veteran bank robber always looking for people willing to risk big for a bigger payday.
Raul Bautista is a seasoned bank robber: confident, charming and cunning, and always scouting for talent ready to take the risks that bring the biggest rewards.
In LOVE magazine (opens in a new tab), the writers described him as the story's third point: the veteran mentor who knows Vice City and its underworld just as Jason and Lucia arrive.
The trade
His official screenshots show a man of action with style: driving with a pistol and stacks of cash, on the phone in a control room or strolling through Vice City at night.
The rest of the cast
The Megamundo crowd, the cop on their tail, a streamer, the prison counselor from Lucia's past and a few more: characters with no official profile who have already turned up in the trailers and An Extended Look.
Beyond the eight on the official site, more named characters have appeared in the trailers and in An Extended Look. Rockstar has not given them profiles: their names and what we know about them come from what those videos show and say, as compiled by GTABase and iGrandTheftAuto. Lori and Wyman, on the other hand, do appear in official text.
Once GTA VI is out on November 19, we will expand this page with what the game itself reveals.
Megamundo
In An Extended Look, she is the one who hires Jason and Lucia as security for the opening of Megamundo's first US headquarters. She is not new: she appeared in GTA Online in 2025, in the Money Fronts update, as Mr. Faber's client. She is back with a new look and little screen time, but she is the one who gets the couple through the door into Vice City's moneyed set.
Megamundo
A wealthy Megamundo associate whom Valentina, Jason and Lucia escort to the opening. Mid-party, an armed crew takes him hostage and Jason gets him out. He comes across as a hedonistic socialite with a taste for excess and appears to be Petra Navarro's partner; his exact role at the company is unknown.
Social media
A content creator and streamer. In An Extended Look, Lucia takes his friend's car while he is filming a challenge from the trunk, and later he livestreams her police chase down Shore Drive. His hair, glasses and mannerisms bring the streamer N3on to mind: one more nod to the social media satire running through the whole game.
Megamundo
Megamundo's chief operating officer. Valentina introduces her to Jason and Lucia at the headquarters opening, shortly before the party ends in gunfire. Along with Andrés de León and Valentina, she rounds out the corporate trio the couple runs into in An Extended Look.
Vice City police
A Vice City police officer seen in Trailer 2 (opens in a new tab) and An Extended Look. In the video, he leads a heavy-handed raid on a drug deal involving Jason, Lucia and Raymond; the couple recognize him by name and hide so he does not spot them.
Vice City
He is the man behind the drug deal that ends in Méndez's raid in An Extended Look: we see him in an apartment where product is being cut and bagged, surrounded by his crew. According to GTABase, he goes by "Ray" and has ties to the San4San gang and to Boobie Ike, but Rockstar has not confirmed any of that.
Leonida Penitentiary
The Leonida Department of Corrections counselor who opens Trailer 1 (opens in a new tab): hers is the very first voice heard from GTA VI, interviewing Lucia in her office while Lucia is still serving time. Her name is on the desk plate. Whether she crosses paths with Lucia again outside prison is unknown.
Leonida Keys
Brian's third wife, per his official profile: the two still move product out of the boatyard together. One of Brian's official screenshots shows a blonde woman holding his arm; she is very likely Lori, though Rockstar has not said so.
Ultimate Edition
An eccentric collector and local fixer who runs a junkyard. He hands out the Classic Car Collection commission, exclusive to the Ultimate Edition: track down abandoned classics and half-finished project cars and restore them to their former glory.
Rockstar has not announced its cast. We only list an actor when it is confirmed; the names floating around online for Jason, Lucia and the rest remain unconfirmed.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple: he is an Army veteran working for drug runners in the Leonida Keys; she is a fighter from Liberty City who has just got out of prison.
Yes. According to the press previews, you can switch characters in the open world, as in GTA V, except at certain story moments, and call the other one to do things together.
The two leads and six supporting characters with official profiles: Cal Hampton, Brian Heder, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe and Roxy) and Raul Bautista. Lori, Wyman, Valentina, Andrés de León, Petra Navarro, Méndez, Raymond, Camilo and Stefanie Gates have also appeared in official text or video.
Stephen Root, known for Office Space, Barry and King of the Hill. He confirmed it himself in September 2026.
Rockstar has not confirmed it. The names circulating online are rumors.
Liberty City, the series' take on New York. She wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since then, and before the story begins she does time in the Leonida Penitentiary.
Valentina, who appeared in GTA Online in 2025, shows up in An Extended Look. No return of any classic protagonist has been confirmed.
