GTA Online reveals a Kortz Center raid and a free GTA V PS5 upgrade
Rockstar announces The Kortz Center Heist for GTA Online: the Mansion Art Studio, how the art robbery will play out and the free GTA V upgrade to PS5.
On June 17, 2026, Rockstar unveiled GTA Online’s big summer update: The Kortz Center Heist, a raid on Los Santos’ most prestigious art museum, perched above Pacific Bluffs. At first it was only billed for “July”; on July 9 the exact date followed: July 14, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
Who’s behind the job
The heist is organised by the mysterious Mr. Faber and his chief fixer, Raf De Angelis, who acts as your point man with recon intel during the job. The target is the most valuable work in the Kortz Center, the cultural complex players already know from GTA V.

What you’ll need: a Mansion with an Art Studio
To set up the heist you’ll need the Art Studio expansion for your Mansion, the luxury property introduced with A Safehouse in the Hills. A counterfeiter moves into the studio to paint forgeries that replace the stolen pieces, and prep gear piles up there for each player to build a Finale loadout from. The studio also lets you display stolen works in your Mansion instead of selling them, and friends can be invited over to see them.
You’ll be able to go solo or with up to three other players; a bigger crew can carry out more loot. Your Mansion’s AI Assistant will lend a hand too.

How the robbery will work
- Scoping: stroll the exhibition, photograph paintings without tipping off the guards and map entrances and exits, with plenty of variation between runs.
- Secondary targets: the museum is packed with extra art to steal on top of the main piece, and it adds up fast.
- Stealth pays: art known to be stolen fetches less, so leaving no witnesses and wiping CCTV raises your take.
- Replayability: the first sale each week pays best, and there will be three new paintings to steal every week.

How to get ready
Rockstar suggested owning a Mansion already (the Richman Villa in the Vinewood Hills is a short drive from the museum) and joining the Fine Art Collector programme, which rewarded players in the weeks before launch, including an Art Studio discount for Mansion owners. It also confirmed new cars for the summer, including Supercars and Drift- and Hao’s Special Works-compatible models such as the Grotti Veleno GT, plus Mission Creator updates.

GTA V free on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Alongside the heist reveal, Rockstar announced that from June 18 anyone owning GTA V on any PS4 version or the digital Xbox One version can upgrade to GTA V on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S for free, migrating Story Mode and GTA Online progress. On PC, moving from Legacy to Enhanced is free too, and GTA+ members get Story Mode in the games library.
Our take: if you were still on PS4, this is the time to move. Hao’s Special Works, Career Progress and ray tracing are current-gen only, and arriving at the heist with your profile already migrated saves headaches.

What happened next
The heist arrived on July 14 as planned. All the launch details are in our article on The Kortz Center Heist.
