GTA Online: A Safehouse in the Hills brings mansions, Michael De Santa and KnoWay Out

Everything in GTA Online’s A Safehouse in the Hills: the three mansions, their amenities, the AI Assistant, the KnoWay Out story, new cars and more.

After building a criminal empire, GTA Online players were missing a home to match. A Safehouse in the Hills, the big winter update, fixed that on December 10, 2025 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC: for the first time you can buy mansions in Los Santos’ most exclusive neighbourhoods. Rockstar revealed it on November 20 and confirmed the date on December 5. It also brought a new story, new cars, the return of a familiar face and the Mission Creator.

The three mansions

Prix Luxury Real Estate offers three locations, each with a large plot, pool, hot tub and a view:

  • Richman Villa, straddling Los Santos and the Vinewood Hills — ideal if you want the city nearby and a well-guarded retreat.
  • The Tongva Estate, up in the Tongva Hills next to the Marlowe vineyards, with the Pacific below.
  • The Vinewood Residence, on the hillside right under the famous Vinewood sign, looking out over the whole city.

You can tour each property on the in-universe Prix Luxury Real Estate site Rockstar built for the update.

What every mansion includes

Outside: a driveway for your personal vehicle, a private rooftop helipad with the Mansion Volatus helicopter thrown in, a yoga spot, gym equipment that temporarily boosts your stats, a pool and a hot tub. You can also adopt a dog (with its own kennel) or a cat and give them names.

Inside: a redesigned 20-car garage, an office with a terminal for running your businesses remotely, a salon with an in-house barber and tattoo artist, and trophy cabinets to show off your achievements.

Optional upgrades

You can style the house with several interior themes, artwork and statues, and add paid extras: an Armory, an Arcade full of retro cabinets, an indoor Car Podium for your best ride, a Vehicle Workshop and a Private Security team. Security, combined with the security upgrades on your businesses, reduces — and can even prevent — raids on your operations.

An AI butler

Every mansion comes with an AI Assistant, with three personalities to choose from, acting as butler, secretary and business partner in one: it’ll serve Champagne, give you the weather, throw public or private parties, let you fast travel from the mansion to any property you own, and boost production at one of your businesses for 24 hours.

Michael De Santa is your neighbour

Move in and you’ll run into some familiar faces: GTA V protagonist Michael De Santa, now a film producer, and his wife Amanda. Rockstar hints that Michael might lend you a hand when you need it most.

KnoWay Out: the new story

The ever-paranoid Avi Schwartzman discovers that KnoWay, a self-driving car start-up, is using its fleet of driverless SUVs to build a surveillance network. In KnoWay Out, for 1–4 players, you’ll break into its test facilities, wreck its plan to automate the Los Santos rail system, steal incriminating files, slip out of a police interrogation and expose the whole scheme.

You don’t need a mansion — it starts at the payphone in Little Seoul — though owning one raises the stakes, since you’ll have something to defend.

New cars

  • Pfister X-treme (Super), with a futuristic look.
  • Übermacht Sentinel XS4 (Sedan), channelling the ’90s.
  • Grotti GT750 (Sports Classic), retro through and through.

And more

The update debuted the Rockstar Mission Creator, added a Getaway Driver random event, four new emotes (Tactical Salute, Baton Twirl, Wasn't Me and Flash Badge) and a missile lock-on jammer for 50 more vehicles, including unarmed aircraft. Mansions are also the setting for the Mansion Raid Adversary Mode and the base for The Kortz Center Heist.
