On July 21, 2022, Rockstar announced GTA Online’s summer update: The Criminal Enterprises, arriving July 26 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. The setting is very 2022: sky-high gas prices, broken supply chains and a heatwave — and Los Santos’ criminals, naturally, are cashing in.

The big one: every business in private sessions

From July 26, all business activities, sell missions included, can be played in private sessions (Invite Only, Crew and Friends). It was one of the community’s most frequent requests, since selling in public lobbies meant risking other players blowing up your stock.

What’s new for each criminal career

Executives

  • Lupe, a new staff manager, helps source Special Cargo for your warehouse.
  • A daily Special Cargo shipment turns up outside the warehouse, ready to run to the docks.
  • Two new sources of cargo in Source Missions.

Bikers

  • The Clubhouse Custom Bike Shop lets you modify customers’ bikes and deliver them for GTA$ and RP.
  • Two new Clubhouse Contracts on the meeting room wall.
  • A Bar Resupply mission for extra income from the clubhouse bar.

Gunrunners

  • Daily deliveries to an Ammu-Nation store as a new revenue stream.
  • Two new Bunker Resupply Missions.
  • Call Agent 14 to speed up research by stealing data.

Nightclub Owners

  • Yohan sources Goods for the club warehouse and Tony launches Club Management missions, two of them new.
  • Inside the venue: kick out troublemakers and escort passed-out VIPs to safety.

Operation Paper Trail

The IAA suspects the Duggans, a crooked oil dynasty, of rigging fuel prices. Agent ULP will sign you up as a sworn agent in Operation Paper Trail, new Contact Missions for 1 to 4 players.

Economy and other changes

  • Permanent pay rises for Races and Adversary Modes, the original Heists and The Doomsday Heist, and for Bodyguards, Associates and MC Members.
  • The Oppressor Mk II’s missiles become less effective.
  • Faster access to snacks and armour mid-firefight.
  • New Imani Tech-compatible cars, more Benny’s models and a classic getting Hao’s treatment on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Our take

After the move to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and the Career Builder, The Criminal Enterprises set out to make the businesses many players already owned worthwhile. Private-session selling alone changes the game for solo players.
