GTA Online: Assault on ATT-16, a five-stage Adversary Mode across land, sea and air

On August 22, 2024, GTA Online launched Assault on ATT-16, one of the game's most ambitious Adversary Modes: two teams clash across five stages on land, sea and air, from a raid on Fort Zancudo to stealing an F-160 Raiju jet from an aircraft carrier.

How it works

One team attacks and the other defends. Stage one is an assault on Fort Zancudo; from there the fight escalates to an offensive against an aircraft carrier: dismantle its defences, open the hangar door and fly off with the Raiju inside.

Several systems can swing a match:

  • Hard drives: at each stage, Attackers can steal drives from servers to raise their payout; if they stay untouched, Defenders get a boost.
  • Supply truck: delivering it upgrades the Attackers' respawn Rogue plane with extra armour, speed and weapons.
  • Orbital Cannon: both teams can use the Orbital Cannon Terminal to strike from above.

How to play

Head to the blip outside Fort Zancudo, or open your iFruit and go to Quick Join > Series Modes > Assault on ATT-16. Its launch week paid 2X GTA$ and RP, and winning twice earned GTA$100,000. It also has its own Pause Menu Awards.

Rockstar also began rotating Series Modes that week to improve matchmaking.

Also that week

LSA Operations (the Los Santos Angels from San Andreas Mercenaries) and Business Battles paid double, and Rooster McCraw guaranteed two crates per Air Freight Cargo request.

Our verdict

Assault on ATT-16 brings back the spirit of the game's big multi-stage modes, with long, varied matches that reward coordination. The Raiju — the jet from San Andreas Mercenaries — is the symbolic prize of the final stage. It's built for organised groups; with strangers it can get chaotic, but that's part of the fun. Rockstar later singled it out among the year's highlights in its November Community Update.
