GTA Online: you can now work as a cab driver in your own Downtown Cab Co. Taxi

Taxi Work arrived in GTA Online in January 2023: how to start at Downtown Cab Co., buying the Taxi, and Skip to Destination fast travel on PS5 and Xbox Series.

This article is from January 19, 2023. Some details may have changed since then.

Driving a cab, one of the series' classic side jobs, arrived in GTA Online on January 19, 2023. Since then you can buy Pegasus' Taxi and do Taxi Work whenever you like, as part of Los Santos Drug Wars's drip-feed content.

Getting started

  1. Head to the Downtown Cab Co. depot at Tangerine Street and Mirror Park Boulevard in East Vinewood.
  2. Show up for duty — you don't need your own cab for your first fares.
  3. Pick up customers and drive them to their destinations.

If you want your own, the Taxi (Service) is sold at Warstock Cache & Carry. Completing 10 Taxi Work jobs in a row earns the Taxi Star Award and unlocks its Trade Price. Arena War veterans at Sponsorship Tier 25 can also use that mode's special red taxi.

Skip to Destination on PS5 and Xbox Series

On current-gen consoles, Downtown Cab Co. added new destinations and a Skip to Destination option: call a cab from your phone, say where you're going and skip the ride, like fast travel. GTA+ Members get just a 5-minute wait between trips, and that month they also got the Taxi for free and double tips.

Also that week

  • The MTL Brickade 6x6, the Fooliganz' mobile acid lab, could now be bought directly from Warstock instead of stolen in The First Dose.
  • Lunar New Year (Year of the Rabbit): a painted rabbit mask, a rabbit tattoo and GTA$188,888 for logging in.
  • The First Dose Hard Mode event continued, now at double pay.

Why it matters

It was one of the first old-school legit jobs Rockstar has gradually brought back to GTA Online, followed by Pizza Delivery and the firefighter, forklift and paper route Odd Jobs. It's not the most lucrative way to make money, but it's one of the most relaxing.
