They come from a mysterious sender known only as “J”, and the first batch, A New Source of Employment, brought three solo missions paying cash for dangerous work.
How they work
Telegrams arrive by mail: pick them up at a Post Office or your camp Lockbox and launch them from your Satchel. They're short, risky jobs designed for players who'd rather ride alone than rely on a posse.
The three missions
Mission | What its poster shows |
|---|---|
A One Horse Deal | A horseback shootout between riders in open country |
Outrider | Defending a loaded wagon from attackers |
Rich Pickings | A raid on a grand southern mansion |

Why it matters
Telegram Missions became one of Red Dead Online's most repeated formats. Rockstar later added the Hardcore versions in A Tough Business, “J” himself opened up Call to Arms, and when the company stopped major updates in 2022, more telegrams were exactly what it promised. They still get bonuses years later, as in August 2026 — although A New Source of Employment missions don't pay triple Gold.
