El Rubio's island becomes a battlefield. On July 24, 2025, GTA Online added Cayo Perico Motor Wars, a version of Motor Wars set on Cayo Perico that launched at 2X GTA$ and RP for two weeks (4X for GTA+ Members, until August 6).

How it works

Motor Wars is GTA Online's battle royale: teams drop into an area that keeps shrinking, and the last ones standing win. This version has six possible zones on the island, all small and fast-closing, forcing fights from the very first minute. Weapons and vehicles are scattered around, and you can play it in the air, on the roads or on foot through the undergrowth.

To play, join the Cayo Perico Series via Quick Join on your iFruit or the map blip in Terminal. Completing a session earned the Gold Gun Necklace.

Vehicles for the war

Rockstar backed the launch with 40% off the Bravado Half-track and the Vom Feuer Anti-Aircraft Trailer — two vehicles built for exactly this kind of fight — plus the Volatol, the Buzzard and around ten cars.

What it adds

Since 2020, Cayo Perico has mostly been associated with its heist, though it already had its own races in the Cayo Perico Series and an Adversary Mode, Assault on Cayo Perico. Motor Wars and, a month later, zombie-filled Cayo Perico Survival are Rockstar's way of reusing the map for competitive and co-op play. The small zones make matches shorter and more intense than classic Motor Wars.
