On January 4, 2024, it launched a daily wildlife photography collectible and a vehicle for patrolling the hills: the Declasse Park Ranger.
Wildlife photography: how it works
Each day there are three animals to photograph with your phone camera. To find out which:
- Visit the LS Tourist Board in Blaine County, or
- hover over its blip on the Pause Menu map to get the list by email.
Rockstar's tips: domestic animals tend to be found in the city and suburbs; keep your distance from predators, which will attack; and if you scare an animal off, leave and come back to the same spot later.

Declasse Park Ranger
It's the San Andreas park rangers' SUV, with a light bar, push bar and white and green livery. It's sold at Warstock Cache & Carry, on PS5 and Xbox Series only, and unlocks like this:
Requirement | What it unlocks |
|---|---|
Photograph 1 animal | Ability to buy it |
Photograph 10 animals | Trade Price (cheaper) |
Also that week
- Payphone Hits tweak: payouts for Franklin's Assassination Bonuses were reduced, and the cooldown between hits dropped to 10 minutes.
- Salvage Yard Robberies from The Chop Shop targeting the Enus Deity, Lampadati Casco and Vapid Ellie.
- Double pay on Stunt Races, HSW Races and Junk Energy Time Trials.
- GTA+ Members could now store up to 100 vehicles in The Vinewood Club Garage.

Why it mattered
Animals were part of GTA V's Story Mode but barely appeared in GTA Online until The Chop Shop. The daily challenge gave them a purpose in-game and a reason to explore the map at a slower pace. Wildlife photography later became a staple of bonus events and reached PC with GTA V Enhanced.
